Cool Down From the Pitta Your Core with Brittanie DeChino
Sunday, August 1
3:00 - 5:00pm
$30 before July 20
$35 after July 20
As the dog days of summer are upon us, learn how to use yoga and ayurveda to cool your body and mind.
Pitta, the ayurvedic dosha made up of fire and water, can be aggravated during hot summer days — causing us to overheat. Thus, our agni (digestive fire) can be displaced; the internal fire moves to the surface and digestive issues, heat rash, skin problems, anger and temper are all on the rise.
This extended, 2-hour yoga practice will include cooling variations for meditation, chanting, pranayama (breathing exercises), and asana (poses). Examples include sitali pranayama, chandranamaskar (cooling moon salutations), forward folds and twists (which help cleanse the intestines and liver), and some yin/restorative postures.
If you find you are “fired-up” easily and typically enjoy vigorous exercise and hot, sweaty yoga practices, this may be just the practice for you. Open to all levels!
