Asana: Our Connection with the Earth with Ximena Savitch
Saturday, April 4
2:00 - 4:00 pm

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali states, Sthiram Sukham Asanam (II.46). This means that our connection to the earth (asanam), should be steady (sthiram) and joyful (sukham).
The original meaning of the Sanskrit word, “asana” means “seat”, therefore our seat is our connection to the Earth, which encompasses all beings and things. For the yogi, the perfection of asana means the perfection of our relationship to all beings and things.
In this Jivamukti Yoga workshop we will explore our connection to the earth and challenge our steadiness through a series of standing and balancing poses. By exploring our balance and connection on the mat, we can begin to understand how that same steadiness and joy can be found off the mat.
Come prepared to stand tall in Tadasana (“Mountain pose”), take flight in Garudasana (“Eagle pose”), and to challenge what it means to be “connected” to the world around us.
